OUR COMMUNITY

Sacred Heart School Kew

Sacred Heart Kew is a close knit, vibrant and welcoming community. Our community is our strength.  The staff are committed, highly competent professionals who encourage and inspire their students. The parents are an enthusiastic, supportive and involved dynamic sector of the community. The students enjoy school life, love learning and thrive in a happy, secure and caring environment. We are all very proud of our school.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge that we learn, grow, create and celebrate on Wurundjeri Country. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We are grateful for the opportunity to share the glorious land, sky, waterways, and wonderful wildlife with the traditional owners. Exploring Country brings us joy, happiness and peace. We will continue our connection with Country through respectful play, by caring for our community and the environment, and engaging in learning that challenges injustice and leads change.

PARENTS' ASSOCIATION (PA)

The Sacred Heart Kew Parent Association is an important, vibrant part of the Sacred Heart School/Parish community. All parents of Sacred Heart Kew are members of the Parent Association and, as such, are invited and welcome to be part of the broad range of activities that the Parent Association is involved in.

The primary objective of the Sacred Heart Kew PA is a dual one, Fundraising and ‘Friendraising’ - for the welfare and benefit of the students, the parent community, the teachers, the school and parish. The financial support that the PA is able to provide for the school is important as it does contribute significantly to the programs of the school. But, the Sacred Heart Kew PA also emphasises and values strongly the relationship building that is inherent in so many of the social functions facilitated by the PA. This 'Friendraising' focus ensures a strong sense of community.

The Parent Association Committee coordinates its activities, assisted by parent Class Representatives from all year levels and meets regularly with the Principal. The PA also nominates a member to sit on the School Advisory Council, the body that formally brings together all key stakeholders to advise the Principal and the Parish Priest on the effective management of the school.
